Peppermint Crisp Tart

Kirsten Bowes travelled all the way from Jolly Jozi to join us here in the Marvellous Midlands. Kirsten has an endearing personality, and with her friendly attitude and light-hearted manner she lifts the spirit of any occasion. Eager to learn, and similar to one or two former students who have attended Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine, Kirsten had already completed a culinary and hospitality course but believed there was more to pursue. Following her parents’ suggestion, she joined us – and we are happy she did.

According to Kirsten, her time at the school has been “an incredible experience”.

“I have learned so much already and it has been enlightening working alongside, and learning from, Chef Jackie,” she says with an enthusiastic smile. “I feel honoured to have this opportunity and I’ve worked hard to achieve my dreams of being able to learn from Chef.

“I hope you enjoy my peppermint-crisp tart. I chose to share it is because it reminds me of home, it’s simple to make, and it always impresses. Perfect for balmy summer days, I serve this tart at family occasions such as Christmas, and on Friday braai nights with friends. It’s a hit every time! There are many ways to deconstruct it, and I have no doubt you’ll find a way to make it your own. But before you do, I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read my article.”
