“Everyone has their own story about enrolling at Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine. I find it interesting to delve into their respective narratives to understand the reason for them wanting to step into this crazy, yet rewarding, culinary industry.”
Shriyan Basthdaw is here because he has a deep interest in the health aspect of food and how eating can benefit each one of us - and those around us. The recipe he has chosen to share is unique, the texture superb - super soft, moist and light, as well as deep in chocolate flavour.
“Keto desserts have always been close to my heart,” says Shriyan. “Having a sweet tooth and healthy living seldom go hand in hand. I, however, have always leaned towards fitness and healthy living. With Keto desserts I hope to make more people aware that desserts and treats do not have to be sacrificed while on a fitness journey or while trying to live healthier.”

It’s a relief that Shriyan’s health plan includes something sweet. I strongly believe when one is on a restrictive diet one tends to crave those ‘forbidden’ delicacies. A healthy eating regime is important.
Shriyan believes that love and attention must be the main ingredient in everything we do, and that to ‘fly’ in this industry one needs to be a leader, creative and charismatic. In his opinion, the course is “everything I anticipated and more”, with every day bringing “new challenges, knowledge and laughs”.
Learning together is a privilege – and always remember to laugh along the way.
