As the administrative secretary and personal secretary to Chef Jackie, Beryl-Anne Berriman is the person who holds things together. Having a more-than 14-year career at Maritzburg College, and as many years at UWP Consulting (now Mariswe), Bee, as she is affectionately called, was well equipped to put Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine’s paperwork in place.

“I had retired, but I was delighted when Jackie approached me to help her,” says Bee, adding that “this is a happy place to spend my days”.

After five years working at this culinary institution in the Midlands, Bee is as enthusiastic about her work as the students are about their learning experience. Apart from ‘pushing paper’ she enjoys designing marketing material for the school. Known for the welcoming smile that she presents to all, Bee is always interested in what a person has to say.

Her advice to the youth is to “strive to do your best – work hard, take pride and set a high standard’.

At a pensionable age, Bee is well satisfied with all she has achieved. Right now, she says it’s a joy to be part of this friendly team.
